Episode #116: The Truth About Content Burnout (And How to Escape It for Good)
If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in an endless loop of content creation…. constantly posting, constantly brainstorming, and constantly burning out… you’re not alone.
The pressure to be “always on” is freakin’ exhausting, and no matter how much you put out there, it often feels like it’s never enough.
The truth? The problem isn’t that you’re not working hard enough. The problem is the system itself.
Somewhere along the way, we were told that the secret to success is posting every day, being active on every platform, and never letting your audience forget about you. But what happens when you’re spending all your time creating content and still not seeing real results?
That’s exactly what we’re breaking down in this post. We’ll cover:
Why content burnout happens (and why it’s not your fault)
The three biggest mistakes that lead to burnout
Why your ideal customer is overwhelmed by content — and how you can stand out
The power of evergreen content and how it helps you escape the hamster wheel for good
What Content Burnout Feels Like (And Why It’s So Common)
We’ve all been taught to create, post, and repeat at an unrealistic, unsustainable pace.
When I first started my business, I followed the standard advice: post three times a day, seven days a week. That’s 21 posts per week – and that was just for Instagram.
For a while, I kept up with the pace. But soon, I realized that all I was doing was creating content. I wasn’t nurturing my email list. I wasn’t working on new offers. I wasn’t actually running my business. And let me tell you, I didn’t just end up hitting the wall…. I slammed into it at full speed.
The worst part? On the rare days when I posted less than usual, I felt like I was failing. I had completely bought into the belief that if I wasn’t posting constantly, my business would disappear.
But here’s the reality: You are not just a content creator. You are a business owner. And your time should be spent on more than just chasing the next viral post.
So if you’re feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or uninspired when it comes to showing up online, you’re not alone. According to a HubSpot survey, 47% of marketers say they struggle with consistently creating content, and 60% of content creators experience burnout at some point.
And yet? Only 8% of marketers say they actually measure their content’s long-term performance. That means most people are stuck in a cycle of creating, posting, and moving on… without even knowing if their content is working!!
No wonder we’re all exhausted.
The 3 Biggest Mistakes Leading to Content Burnout
If you’re feeling burned out, chances are you’re making one (or more) of these common mistakes:
1. Relying Too Much on Social Media
Social media is a tool, but it’s not a business model.
Most content posted on Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook disappears within 24–48 hours. If you’re spending 80% of your time creating content that expires that quickly, you’re working way too hard for way too little return.
Instead of focusing only on content that disappears fast, you need a strategy that creates long-term, evergreen content that works for you 24/7.
2. Creating Content Reactively Instead of Strategically
If you’ve ever scrambled to come up with a post at the last minute, you know exactly what reactive content creation feels like.
When you don’t have a strategy, every single post feels like starting from scratch. There’s no clear path guiding your audience from engagement to conversion, which means you’re spending time creating content that isn’t driving real results.
Instead of posting just to post, you need a plan that connects your content to your offers.
3. Believing That More Content = More Sales
The goal of content isn’t just to show up… it’s to drive results.
Too many business owners believe that posting more will automatically lead to more visibility and more revenue. But in reality, quality always beats quantity.
You don’t need more content. You just need better distribution of the content you already have.
Your Ideal Customers Are Overwhelmed Too (And That’s a Big Problem for You)
Let’s step into your ideal customer’s shoes for a second.
Every day, the average person sees 4,000–10,000 ads. That’s just paid content—not even counting the hundreds of organic posts, emails, and messages they receive daily.
On Instagram alone, the average user follows 506 accounts and scrolls through 300+ posts in just 15 minutes. On TikTok, they watch 95 minutes of video per day, scrolling past hundreds of creators.
And their attention span? It’s down to 1.2 seconds per post.
Think about that for a second. You’re spending hours crafting the perfect Instagram post—only for it to be scrolled past in less than two seconds.
No wonder you feel like you’re shouting into the void.
The answer isn’t to post more. The answer is to cut through the noise with content that actually matters.
How Evergreen Content Helps You Escape the Hamster Wheel
Evergreen content is the opposite of social media content that disappears overnight. Instead of short-lived posts, evergreen content is designed to provide value for months or even years.
Think of it like planting a garden instead of buying fresh-cut flowers every day. Social media posts are beautiful, but they fade quickly. Evergreen content, on the other hand, continues growing and working for you over time.
Here’s why evergreen content is a game-changer:
It works for you 24/7, even when you take a break.
It builds on itself over time, creating compound results.
It lets you step back from the constant grind of daily content creation.
Instead of fighting for 1.2 seconds of attention on social media, evergreen content helps you reach your audience when they’re actively looking for solutions.
Final Thoughts: Get Off the Burnout Train for Good
You didn’t start your business to become a content creation robot… you started it because you have expertise to share and people to help.
So here’s your challenge: Stop creating content that disappears in a day. Instead, start building a content strategy that works for you, not against you.

Incredibly awesome. Thanks, Sarah!"
